Ndor Eco Village

Located in the Volta Region of Ghana, Ndor Eco-Village is a grass root, non-governmental organization that educates and provides the local community with developmental agricultural practices that fosters environmental consciousness. Their mission is to promote education in their local community on sustainable methods of cultivation, harvesting, storing, conservation, preservation and other environmentally sound practices that benefit the entire ecosystem. Subversive Gardener works with Ndor Eco-Village by helping designing tools and systems that address their specific agricultural challenges and/or needs.

Mumbai

PRITI BHOSALE

Priti Bhosale is an urban farmer and permaculturalist based in Mumbai, India.  She works with multiple partners and organizations such as Green Souls to build gardens that provide food to marginalized communities. Her work has lead her to create  and implement roof-top farms, balcony kitchen gardens and sustainably operated farms.  She has developed over five farms in 2014 including Tata Cancer Patients hospital, St Paul’s orphanage, Dongri Juvenile Centre, Deonar Women’s Shelter Home and Cheshire Home for Disabled. Priti is involved with conducting countless farming workshops in schools, residential complexes, colleges and corporate offices.  She is passionate about education and works to help establish farming curriculums for primary and secondary schools alike.  Priti has a compassionate understanding of the effort that goes into promoting environmental sustainability and has made it her missions to share the many teachings she has acquired along her journey. Subversive Gardener supports Priti Bhosale by introducing her work to design and engineering students in order to develop solutions to some of their agricultural challenges.

Brooklyn

Los Sures Senior Housing

Los Sures mission is to nurture and sustain a vibrant neighborhood that supports the diverse family life of Williamsburg by advocating for and developing affordable housing, family health and well-being, and equal opportunity for all.Los Sures currently provides a myriad of resources like: affordable housing, tenant organizing, community outreach, a senior residential center, a senior recreation center, a hydroponic farm, a local food pantry, and it serves a liaison between the southside community and some city agencies. Subversive Gardener works closely with Los Sures to help support their local food pantry and hydroponic farms by growing additional fresh produce, promoting seeds saving techniques, as well as providing solutions to some of their agricultural challenges.

Scholes Street Children’s Garden

Scholes Street Children’s Garden has been an active site for vegetable growing and community gatherings since 1986. Subversive Gardener has partnered with the Scholes Street Children’s Garden to offer workshops about urban farming and environmentalism to the community.
